The Germans plan to double their sales growth in the U.S. by 2-3 years.
“We will sell at around 400 000-450 000 cars a year over the 2012-2013″ said Stefan Jacoby, president of Volkswagen of America.

Jacoby’s optimistic forecast includes jump by about 40 percent in sales of new cars in the U.S. over the next few years.
According to the German new vehicles sold in North America will reach 11.5 million this year and about 15 million during the 2012-2013 year.
Stefan Jacoby adds that VW forecasts for the realization of 800 000 sales annually in the United States in 2018 are realistic.
VW is currently considered as a minor player in the U.S. but last year reported satisfactory figures on the local U.S. market.
In 2009 the company has realized a total of 297 537 new vehicles (the figure includes the cars of Audi), representing a drop of about 5% over the previous year 2008. Sales of VW branded cars even reach 213 454 units or a decline of about 4% compared to 2008.
