Probably there is no man who has never heard of the classic VW Beetle of the past century and its successor, New Beetle, discovered in the late 90′s.
Accordingly, Volkswagen’s New Beetle is available on the market for nearly 10 years and enjoyed a fairly strong sales despite the lack of specific changes during its life cycle. From the factory in Puebla, Mexico so far have gone more than one million of the model. It seems that the people behind the project have an even more ambitious plans for the next generation of automobiles. It should appear between 2011 and 2012.
VW Executive Director Martin Winterkorn confirmed that they are currently developing a successor. It probably will again be produced in Mexico, although it is possible for other sites. The company is considering several possible options for future Beetle – among the possibilities are a new Spider which will be complementary to the standard convertible.
In the Internet appeared surprisingly computer graphics which shows a design variant of the heir to the New Beetle. Interestingly, the next generation of New Beetle may lose particle “New” and is simply called “Beetle” – as in the classic Beetle. It is expected that future models can be influenced by prototypes up! and the classic “beetle”.
