Volkswagen added a new member to its model line, including conceptual city car called Up!. It is called Milano Taxi and was shown at a trade show in Hanover. It’s a prototype which in future could be based on a new generation of taxis driven by electric motor and zero levels of bad emissions.
Milano Taxi resembles a compact MPV cars and its dimensions are – length 3.73 m, 1.66 m wide and 1.60 m height. The model has a sliding door through which it facilitates the entry and exit of passengers, and it opens forward.
Volkswagen said the rear of the conceptual Milano Taxi can comfortably seat two passengers, legroom as they compete in size to that of a luxury sedan with its 120 mm. To provide more room to ride in the car, they can put their luggage in the front seat to the driver.
Model and obtained similar to iPad LCD display placed on the back of the driver’s seat that allows the rear passengers to get information on routes, necessary for toll payment, etc., as it is also controlling the temperature in the back the car.

Milano Taxi is driven by an electric motor with maximum power of 115 hp, which is charged by lithium-ion battery with capacity of 45 hp, integrated into the car. The car has a mass of 1 500 kg, its maximum speed is 119 km/h and can travel 300 kilometers on a single charge.
The german car maker says that the charging time of the Lithium-Ion battery is significantly reduced by over 80% of its load for a little over 1 hour.
Volkswagen are planning their first all-electric car to appear on roads by 2013.
