The Germans ended the acquisition of majority stake in lItaldesign Giugiaro S.p.A. (IDG).
VW Group HQ announced that they now own the rights to the trademark and all patents of lItaldesign Giugiaro SpA (IDG). The Group owns a 90.1% stake in Italian design studio and the remaining 9.9 percent are owned by Giugiaro.
“Italdesign is now a permanent member of the Volkswagen Group and the prospects are better than ever,” said Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the board of directors of the German company. “Given the current and future vehicles in the VW Group, highly skilled and motivated designers lItaldesign Giugiaro will have the opportunity to work on many new models, “added Winterkorn.
lItaldesign Giugiaro S.p.A. (IDG) was founded in 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. Over the years the Italian studio has created many iconic models, including the first generation Golf, Passat, Scirocco and Audi 80.
