Speaking recently how German company Wimmer has developed several very good packages for Porsche 911 GT2 and Ferrari F430 16 M. This time, however, tuning specialists have turned to something a little more modest namely the new Volkswagen Golf GTI. In this Wimmer decided to come closer to their other projects mainly in dynamics rather than by design.
Serial GTI comes with a power of 210 hp and torque of 280 Nm but after Wimmer have turned to the 2-liter turbocharged engine, these figures jump to 386 hp and 455 Nm. This allows the hatch to reach top speed of 267 km/h.
Perhaps you are wondering how they obtain such a huge jump in potential? What Wimmer optimized is turbo, used sport catalysts, modified intake system and fuel pumps and are also reprogrammed the ECU… and this is only a part of the changes.
Wimmer also installed a special sports clutch and spring-adjustable sports suspension from HR. Accordingly, the package can be completed with new 18-, 19- or 20-inch wheels shod in sport tires.
