Volkswagen Polo was named “Car of 2010 for Europe” – the most prestigious competition for new cars. The compact model received 347 points in a vote of 59 journalists from 23 European countries.

Absolutely all jury members awarded points on the classic model of a small Volkswagen, as a whole 25 of them qualified the car first in their lists. Among the main qualities of Polo are the new 1.2 TSI engine, superb road behavior and affordability.

Volkswagen’s main competitor in this year’s contest is an innovative model Toyota iQ, which is ranked second, just 10 points Polo with a score 337 points.

The unusual ultra compact car was placed first of 20 members of the jury and little did not reach to take the prestigious award. Low operating costs and high safety are among the main advantages of the iQ.

Third place in the prestigious contest is put Opel Astra with a score from 221 points – far from the top rated two cars. Most of the members of the jury indicated the new Astra as a very good model, but only 5 of them put him first in their lists, which affected the final result.

Surprisingly well in the competition is rated compact SUV from Skoda – Yeti, which outpaced the luxurious Mercedes E-Class, Peugeot 3008 crossover and ranked last of the seven finalists Citroen C3 Picasso.
