Already presented the new generation VW Beetle, later this year we will see a version with no top.
It will hit the market next year, as a model of 2013. Most likely, the premiere of open Beetle will be in Frankfurt in the autumn.

VW Beetle R will replace New Beetle RS

Just a day after seeing the first official images of the latest generation of the iconic Beetle model, the Germans confirmed a hot version.
We don’t know at what engine will rely sports Beetle R, but most likely that of conjugated Golf R. This means that the VW Beetle R will have an output of 265 hp, but will only target the front wheels (in Golf R drive is transmitted to all four wheels).
No information on the premiere of the hottest Beetle R, but several publications claim that the vehicle will be available in U.S. only. Predecessor of Beetle R – New Beetle RS was only available in Europe.

The Germans unveiled the latest generation of the iconic car. The new VW Beetle disposed of its name “New” and now instead of New Beetle is referred to as its predecessor from 1938 – just a VW Beetle.
The latest generation of the popular small car learned a lot in terms of design, but has managed to preserve the basic features of their predecessors. Rounded and wide wheel arches have been preserved at the new model and more upright roofline and rear column strongly resemble those of the original. It delivers more space in the cabin, especially in rear seats. The car is also 8.4 inches wider than its predecessor and 15.2 inches longer while the roof is lowered by 1.3 cm.
Range of engines include 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine and 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine of the group. These engines are designed for both Europe and the USA. USA version will also get a 2.5-liter engine with six cylinders – 172 hp and 240 Nm, which is placed in the new Jetta.
As optional equipment, the model includes many sporty items such as 19-inch alloy wheels and rear spoiler.
World premiere of the new VW Beetle will be held simultaneously in Shanghai Motor Show, Motor Show in New York and Berlin. Expect more news in the next few days.
