Tuning company B&B developed some engine upgrade kits for 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

On top of the range, 2.0 TFSI engine in the standard specification produces 200hp (149kW/203hp and 280Nm (207ft), has increased capacity in five stages:
236hp (240hp/177 kW) and 251Nm (340Nm) torque
247hp (250PS/184 kW)
261hp (265PS/195 kW)
191hp (295hp/217 kW)
316hp (320PS/235 kW) and 310Nm (420Nm) torque

For stage 5, which includes B&B turbocharger, air cooler and a full sports exhaust including downpipe and sports catalytic converter, the result is a 0-62 mph time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Price from €8,950.
For Beetle 1.4 TSI with 158hp (118kW/160PS), stage 1 ECU upgrade costs €998 and takes power to 207hp (154kW/210hp) and 136Nm (285Nm) of torque. Stage 2, which costs €1,498 goes a little higher to 221hp (165kW/225hp) and 228Nm (310Nm). Stage 3 is slightly more extensive with modified turbo, new air intake and sport exhaust, all contributing to redcued heat load, improving reliability. Output increased to 237hp (176kW/240hp) and 251Nm (340Nm). Stage 3 kit worth €5,950.

Other enhancements include high-performance brake system for €3,795 and 19- or 20-inch wheels.

The concept car E-Bugster is a Beetle that could hardly be made to look more dynamic. Actually, it is a sports car.

As shown in the pictures Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet will be equipped with a soft fold roof, which allegedly will be folding/unfolding in record time. It is also alleged that due to its construction of several small sections, the roof will occupy less space when folded.

More importantly, however, is that soft ceiling manages almost perfect repeat of the roof line, we know from the cabin Volkswagen Beetle.

Convertible version of the Beetle is a very important model for Volkswagen. During the lifecycle of the revived Beetle, convertible and coupe version of its sales divided almost in half in 2003-2005 period, the open version is a search pattern.

The all-new Beetle. It’s back!

Volkswagen presented their conceptual Beetle R during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Ready for action, the concept has an aggressive front bumper, bonnet with air intakes and a new rear bumper with integrated diffuser. Other features include four rear exhausts, brake calipers in blue and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The interior has sport seats in Nappa leather, modified toolbar, aluminum pedals, R-logos and special bedding.

VW refused to reveal more about the dynamic performance of the car, but is supposed to be close to Golf R and Scirocco R.

In its role as the largest tuner of Volkswagen Group the Germans from Abt plan to improve all engines in the range of the Beetle. Starting with the 1.2-liter TSI 103 bhp standard, his power will jump to 138 horses. Meanwhile, 1.4-liter TSI, which has a standard 157 horsepower, can boast 207 hp. The top of the petrol engines is a 2-liter turbo engine that builds on its 197 hp to the new 236 hp. Regarding the diesel 1.6-liter engine with 103 hp – a further 20 horses and the 2-liter TDI already has 167 hp from standard 138 hp.

Of course, there will be an excellent optical tuning by Abt available for the new Beetle – a new front spoiler, rear bumper, new exhaust and side skirts. There are decorative elements such as “eyebrows” on the front and rear lights as well as interesting graphics. Finally, thanks to changes in suspension the car is fitted with 1 inch larger tires.

More details on the new sports “bug” will be available later this year.

Will VW really reveal the Beetle R at the Frankfurt Motor Show in August? So it seems according to the Car & Driver magazine.

At this stage there is nothing official, but unknown sources mentioned to the magazine that the sports version of the Beetle will have a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with about 237 hp. If this is true, it is less than 266 hp of Golf R, but more than 197 horses in the Beetle Turbo. In addition it is expected to be front-wheel drive, to have standard sport suspension and styling modifications.
