The manufacturer announced the starting price for the model market in Germany from € 28,875 at a special presentation on Thursday in Munich. The new Sharan has a 2.92 m wheelbase, ie extended by 8 cm than that in the old familiar pattern. The total length of the tank is 4.85 meters or 22 centimeters more than in the old model.

The main feature of the new generation are sliding doors. The new Sharan can be ordered with the optional five, six or seven seats. The second row seats can be adjusted along the length of the car and also be folded, and the two seats at the back can be fully moved into the floor of the trunk. Thus the volume of freight compartment bath ranges from 711 to 2430 liters.

The range of engines includes two petrol and two diesel engines (all with direct fuel injection and four-cylinder) power of 103 hp KW/140 hp to 147 kW/200 Despite the large amount of new Sharan is 30 kg lighter than the old. Furthermore, most versions of the model is equipped with start-stop automatic system for regenerating energy from braking effort. This should reduce costs by up to 21%. The most economical version as Volkswagen has an average consumption of 5.5 liters diesel.

The interior of the car was completely renovated, improved and more modern than that of the current version. This is not really surprising considering that the first representative of the model Sharan shown a long time ago – in 1995.

Volkswagen increased length of the car with 220 mm (now it is 4 850 mm), its width by 92 mm (currently it is 1 902 mm) and its wheelbase by 75 mm and it is now 2 920 mm. Longer wheelbase provides more interior space for passengers and their luggage.

Rear doors are sliding and bigger. They and the trunk door can be opened automatically by means of electrical actuators.

Central row of seats comprises three individual seats which can displace with 160 mm forward or backward, if necessary, and when not in use can be folded to provide more cargo space.

The German company said that due to the increased wheelbase the third row seats are wider and they can safely ride both adults and children. The second row seats can be bending to the floor when not in use.

The minimum capacity of the luggage compartment is 711 liters while the maximum – which is obtained by folding the seats of the two rear lines – is 2 297 liters.

The range of engines for this model is completely renovated. It includes a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with an output of 140 hp, 2-liter TSI petrol engine with an output of 200 hp, 2-liter turbo diesel with an output of 140 hp and 2-liter turbo diesel with an output of 170 hp.

The world premiere of the new Sharan will be in Geneva on 2 March. According to the preliminary and unofficial information the new generation of Sharan will be powered by an electric motor and a new range of petrol engines.

It has increased the volume of the trunk with rear seats folded – 2800 liters which is more by 475 liters than the current generation.

Current generation of the VW Sharan is on the market since 2004. It is offered with petrol engines with a volume 1.8, 2.0 and 2.8 liters, none of which has a system for direct fuel injection. Diesel engines are also available today in old Sharan (pump-nozzle without Common Rail).

The new generation will be with the new petrol engines with volumes 1.8 and 2.0 liters with power accordingly 160 and 210 hp and the new turbo-diesel units with the system common rail. The new Sharan will be given a form with the engine family BlueMotion as well as modifications working with gas. There will be a 4×4 version too.

New Sharan sales in Europe will begin immediately after the premiere of the car in Geneva.
