Volkswagens have a reputation for being extremely reliable and durable. The quality of a Volkswagen is one of its major selling points, and one of the reasons so many older, classic VW’s are still on the road. In fact, Volkswagens are the epitome of a classic automobile, in every sense of the word, and the owners of classics need to be financially protected. You’d think that reliability, durability and quality would qualify VW owners for good insurance rates. Unfortunately, as many owners can attest, that may not always be true.

Reasonable Rates are Possible

In order to get the best possible deal on insurance coverage you need to seek out a specialist. Shop around. Your best bet for finding just the right kind of insurance coverage for your classic Volkswagen, whether it is an old ‘bug’, a camper van or one of the newer models, could be by contacting an insurance agent that specializes in classic cars. Such agents are trained to know the ins and outs of older cars and are familiar with the needs of classic car owners.

Specialized Insurers

For VW owners, the best option is an insurance company that deals in policies specifically aimed at Volkswagen aficionados. Some companies have affordable policies suitable for even the most cherished and valuable classic VWs. Companies such as these are used to dealing with the specific needs associated with these fine cars. They can offer policies made to order; policies that will meet or exceed your expectations. The problem may be in finding just the right company to work with. In order to find the company that meets your needs, a little (figurative) legwork may be necessary.

Research is the Key

To find the best insurance rates, tailored to your specific needs as a classic Volkswagen owner, the key is to do your homework.
• Find out which companies are in the business of offering customized policies for owners of classic VWs. They are out there.
• Determine ahead of time what type of coverage you need, then contact each company and find out what they have to offer.
• Don’t be afraid to ask questions – details are important. Insurance agencies are in business to make money, and they need to satisfy you so you’ll take out a policy from them.
• Companies that deal in specialized coverage for VW owners have agents specially trained to know the answers to your questions. If they don’t know the specific answer they will undoubtedly be ready and willing to find out. After all, if they can’t give you the best possible coverage at the lowest rate you’ll surely take your business elsewhere. As a result, they’ll do their utmost to please you, and provide you with a policy you’ll be happy with.

The Brand is All the Rage

Because VWs are regarded as being reliable and durable, they are in high demand. Due to the popularity of the classic Volkswagen specialized insurance agencies exist and prominently advertise their willingness to work with VW owners. All you have to do is seek them out. Their specialization can work to your advantage when searching for insurance coverage because these companies are competing for your business. They understand the needs of VW owners and share the love of this classic automobile.

One of the most anticipated and commented cars at the Detroit motor show is the “american” Volkswagen Passat.

First comments of the experts, however, are not very encouraging for the car. They say this is the most boring premiere at the Motor Show, at least regarding the design.

2012 new vw passat

Produced in the U.S. deputy to the European version of the Passat literally looks like a bigger Jetta, which was also criticized for its impressive and not a boring design. The same applies even stronger to the interior. The first picture below is from the interior of the new Passat, the second is the interior of the Jetta.

It seems that the strongest argument of the new Passat in the U.S. will be lower price, which starts at 20,000 dollars or with 7-8 thousand dollars less than the price of the previous model. Do remember, however, that underlying Passat sold in the U.S. now comes with a modern two-liter TFSI with 200 bhp power, and base a new model will be sold with the old engine with five cylinders, volume 2.5 liters and power 170 hp. Among other engines offered with the new Passat in the U.S. will be two-liter turbocharged 140 hp and VR6 with volume 3.6 liters and 280 hp power with which the new Passat will accelerate from standstill to 100 km/hour for 6.5 seconds.

Volkswagen will produce the “american” Passat in its new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in which were invested $1 billion. The new sedan will be available in the U.S. from August this year.
